ONLINE DATING:
So ... You're feeling miserable? Well guess what ... Misery Loves Company!!
|
Here's a few things you should consider before venturing into the online dating scene:
|
1) Listen to that little voice in your head. If your instincts are telling you that something isn't quite right, BELIEVE
IT!! If someone makes you uncomfortable, speak up and change your email and nic name.
2) Hold back your personal information until you feel confident in sharing with someone new. Even your full name
or phone number is enough information for someone to find exactly where you live. Don't reveal specifics about
where you work.
3) You should take the initiative to contact people who look interesting to you. People who are running scams will
be the first to make contact and usually very aggressively.
4) Set up an anonymous email account.. Make sure it reveals none of your personal information like your real
name. You can control if and when you want that information to become available to someone new.
5) Once you decide to meet, always meet in a public place. If possible, bring a friend. Always make sure
someone knows where you are going and arrange a "check-in" time during the date.
6) You should consider arranging a background check before you meet someone new. This shouldn't upset
anyone sincere ... infact, its the smart thing to do.
7) Learn self-defense.
8) Provide your own transportation to and from a first date.
Some tell little white lies and some tell whoppers! They may lie about their appearance, marital lies -
often thats enough to make the "wanna-be" steer clear of you. They want to find someone they can
fool and maniupulate easily. A good starting tool for internet dating is the web-cam. Invest in one and
insist that your new potential "date" does also. It's hard to hide some of those lies from the camera!
